Pilot notice. Qovilly is a non-commercial pilot in active development. No goods are sold and no payments are processed through Qovilly, and no fees are charged to anyone. Information collected is used only to operate, test, and improve the service, never for trading or any commercial purpose.

Prohibited & Restricted Items

Qovilly is a marketplace for legal, safe goods. Every listing must comply with UK law and the rules of our payment provider. Items fall into three groups: Prohibited (never allowed), Restricted (allowed only under strict conditions), and Out of scope (not supported). Anything not lawful to sell or possess in the UK is automatically prohibited, even if not named below.

1. Prohibited: never allowed, by any seller, on any channel

Drugs & related

  • Illegal drugs and narcotics; anabolic steroids
  • Prescription-only medication
  • Drug paraphernalia (bongs, pipes, and similar)

Weapons & dangerous items

  • Firearms and ammunition; realistic imitation or replica firearms; BB/airsoft guns
  • Stun guns, tasers, and pepper/CS sprays (illegal in the UK)
  • Illegal knives, including flick knives, switchblades, zombie knives, and other banned blades
  • Explosives, flares, and pyrotechnic devices (other than licensed retail fireworks; see Restricted)
  • Corrosive substances and acids capable of being used as weapons
  • Any item designed or marketed to cause harm

Health, medical & beauty

  • Regulated or unlicensed medical devices
  • Unlicensed medicines or supplements, or any product making unproven medical claims
  • Skin-lightening creams containing hydroquinone or mercury (illegal in the UK)

Adult & sexual content

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material; nudity; items promoting sexual exploitation
  • Sex toys and adult novelties
  • Used underwear, socks, or other worn intimate/hygiene items

Counterfeit, stolen & brand-infringing

  • Counterfeits, replicas, or fake designer goods
  • Any item using a brand's name, logo, or protected design without authorisation
  • Stolen goods

Animals, wildlife & human remains

  • Live animals or pets
  • Products made from endangered or protected wildlife, including ivory (and listings using terms like "faux ivory")
  • Human remains or body parts

Hazardous & unsafe goods

  • Hazardous materials, including asbestos, mercury, banned pesticides and chemicals
  • Recalled or unsafe products
  • Electrical goods or toys lacking required UK safety marking (UKCA/CE)
  • High-powered laser pointers

Hate, violence & extremism

  • Items that promote hate, discrimination, violence, or terrorism, or glorify any of these

Surveillance & privacy-invading devices

  • Signal, GPS, or radar jammers
  • Hidden cameras disguised as everyday objects (clocks, sockets, etc.)

Fraud, identity & data

  • Counterfeit currency
  • Government documents, IDs, passports, or official uniforms (e.g. police)
  • Hacked or stolen accounts, login credentials, or other people's personal data

Single-use vapes

  • Disposable (single-use) vapes, banned from sale in the UK

Catch-all

  • Any other item or service that is illegal to sell or possess under UK law, or prohibited by our payment provider

2. Restricted: allowed only under strict conditions

Some goods are legal but age-restricted or licence-controlled. Because Qovilly exchanges happen in person, these may be listed for in-store discovery only, so nearby shoppers can see what a shop carries, but they are never sold through the platform's online flow.

Restricted categories include

  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Reusable/refillable vapes and e-cigarettes (single-use vapes are prohibited, see above)
  • Lottery tickets and scratchcards
  • Legal knives and bladed tools (kitchen, utility)
  • Retail fireworks
  • Crossbows
  • Solvents and aerosols capable of misuse
  • Home-prepared food (requires food-hygiene registration and allergen labelling)

Conditions: all must be met

  • Registered/licensed shops only. Individual/home sellers may not list restricted items.
  • In-store only. No Buy & Reserve, online payment, or delivery.
  • Age verified in person at the point of sale (Challenge 25).
  • The seller holds the relevant licence and complies with all applicable regulations.

3. Out of scope: not supported

Not prohibited, simply not what Qovilly is built for: vehicles, including cars, motorcycles, and similar. Please use a dedicated vehicle marketplace.

4. Enforcement

  • Listing removed for a first or minor breach.
  • Warning, then temporary suspension, for repeat breaches.
  • Permanent ban for serious or repeated violations.
  • Reported to the authorities where the law requires it (e.g. weapons, stolen goods, exploitation).

5. Reporting & updates

Report a listing that breaches this policy via the in-app report option. We may update this policy at any time as laws change; the current version always applies.
