Qovilly is a platform in development (pilot) that helps people discover local shops, individual sellers, and what is available near them. This notice explains what personal data we collect, why, and your rights. It complies with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
This is a non-commercial pilot. No goods are sold and no payments are processed through Qovilly, and no fees are charged. Any information we collect is used only to operate, test, and improve the service, not for trading, selling, advertising to you, or any commercial purpose.
The data controller is Oghenetega Teberen (operating the Qovilly pilot), contactable at teberenotega@yahoo.com. Once the company is incorporated this will become Qovilly Ltd, and we will update this notice.
If you use Qovilly as a shopper: your name and email; your approximate location (see below); the things you search for and save; notifications you receive; and basic device/usage information.
If you list as a shop or individual seller: your contact and store details; your location; your product listings; and, for individual sellers, identity-verification documents (e.g. a photo ID) used only to confirm you are who you say you are.
While you are using the app, your device's precise location is used to show what is nearby and is not stored. A rounded, approximate area (about 1 km) is stored only if you opt in to nearby alerts, and we never store your exact address.
We do not use your data for trading or to sell anything to you.
We use essential cookies to run the platform and an error-monitoring tool (Sentry) to keep it working. We ask your consent before using any non-essential cookies.
We do not sell your data. We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf: hosting and database (Supabase), email delivery (Resend), and AI providers that power search and the assistants (which may process your queries). Some providers are outside the UK; where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK/EU-approved data transfer terms).
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or anonymise it. Identity-verification documents are kept securely and only as long as required for verification and safety.
You can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our use of your data, ask for a copy, or withdraw consent. Email teberenotega@yahoo.com. You can also complain to the UK regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Qovilly is not intended for under-18s. Sellers must be 18 or over.
We may update this notice as the pilot develops; the current version always applies.
